It is one of the UK Millennium landmark projects and it was designed by award-winning architect and urban designer, Terry Farrell, the site offers a unique, stylish and architecturally striking setting.
From the 2007 Centre For
Life Review:
The Centre for Life is a science village that brings together
people working in a wide range of disciplines – researchers, clinicians,
educationalists, ethicists, business men and women. The Life Bioscience
Centre is home to the Excellence for Life
Sciences - known as CELS. CELS has
encouraged the commercialisation of university bioscience knowledge
and spin out companies, and its early-stage progress is on a par
with international benchmarks. “The good thing about being here”
explained Janette Thomas of the
CELS “is that people come to us, and we can discuss things
with them and with others who can help us to guide them in the start-up.”
Professor Fred Wright, Chief Executive of CELS explained why they are located in the Bioscience
Centre: CELS helped
Biotransformations
secure £1/2 million to enable them to support the research needed to
get clinical candidates towards Phase 1 clinical trials.
The Directors of Artingence felt that the Bioscience Centre provided the company with an excellent environment to grow and flourish in our target market. It proved to be a fantastic spring board to assist us to the level of success we achieved this year. As we are expanding the core of the business the time has come to take on larger facilities.
